The Clayhouse now offers Mosaics! Mosaic is the art of creating images with small pieces of colored glass, stone or other material.
Small tiles, fragments of pottery or colored glass are used to create a pattern or picture. We have included this creative art a the Clayhouse.
You can walk in any day and make a unique masterpiece. It is very easy to do and you will love the outcome!
How to create Mosaics
Step One - Select a surface and tesserae (mosaic pieces) for your project. you may choose from picture frames, mirrors, plaques, etc. Plan your design by drawing it on paper, sketching directly onto your piece, or laying it out onto your surface. Use your imagination, get creative, have fun!
Step Two - Apply adhesive to your surface. Complete your design in sections following your layout. Avoid using too much adhesive, which can cause it to"squish up" between your pieces and will leave no room for grout.
Step Three - Attach your pieces by pressing them into the adhesive, leaving 1/8" to 1"2" between each. Continue adding tesserae until your design is complete.
Step Four- Allow the adhesive to dry completely (24-48 hours), then grout according to package instructions. Enjoy your new masterpiece!
